The BC COVID-19 Population Mixing Patterns survey (BC-Mix) is a repeated online survey administered through Qualtrics to residents of BC who are at least 18 years of age. The survey began in September 2020 and is still ongoing, with over 77,000 participants (as of January 31, 2022). The baseline survey comprises of 94 questions across six key domains:  

  1. Demographic information 
  2. COVID-19 testing and results, symptoms and health-seeking behaviours 
  3. Activities and behavior in and outside the home 
  4. Internet and social media use 
  5. Perceptions and attitudes around COVID-19 
  6. COVID-19 vaccine acceptance  

Currently, the BC Mix data is used for provincial modelling projections which are reported by the provincial health officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry.
